Awards mark the 10th year in a row that Antenna Audio productions have won media awards from the National Association for Interpretation
Antenna Audio (www.antennaaudio.com), the world leader in audio and multimedia interpretation and part of Discovery Travel Media, today announced that two of its clients, the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, have received NAI Media Awards. The San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum's school group audio tour of the USS Midway won the first place award in the audio interpretation category, and the audio tour of the Ansel Adams temporary exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston won the third place award.
"We are pleased that our clients have been honored with NAI Interpretive Media Awards," said Andrew Nugée, Antenna Audio CEO. "The awards are a testament to our clients' commitment to quality and exceptional content, a vision that we are proud to realize as their interpretation partner.
The awards were presented at the Interpretive Media Awards ceremony in November during the National Interpreters Workshop in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Wayne Nuzzolo, School and Youth Program Manager at the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum, was on hand to accept the award for the USS Midway audio tour, and Yvonne Roberts, Sr. Business Development Manager at Antenna Audio, accepted the award on behalf of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
More than 25 judges were involved in the awards competition, evaluating entries on the quality of interpretation, program design, writing/editing/continuity, and implementation. Judges for the USS Midway school group audio tour gave the production rave reviews, "This {tour} presents a lot of information in a very fun way. You felt as if you were really on an active ship." A second judge commented, "This is a very well-produced program with numerous sound-effects and narrators. Many of the technical concepts are well-defined and reinforced throughout the tour." Judges for the Ansel Adams audio tour at the Museum of Fine Arts were equally complimentary, applauding the authenticity of the tour, "I liked that the people speaking were family members… It meant more than some of the quotes I have heard on other presentations."
The Interpretive Media Awards Competition is coordinated by the National Association for Interpretation and its Visual Communications Section to promote excellence in the delivery of natural, cultural, and historical nonpersonal interpretive services. Through the exchange of ideas and award-winning productions, NAI seeks to increase the level of excellence across the interpretation profession. Categories for the competition include: audio program, interactive multimedia, interpretive program curriculum, large book, interior exhibit, site publication, small book, trail guide, film/video, and wayside exhibit. The Interpretive Media awards are presented each year at the NAI National Workshop.
