Antenna Audio to present at Arts Marketing Association

On 7 February 2007 the AMA will hold its fifth Museums and Galleries Marketing Day, focusing on the opportunities that new technologies provide for marketing and communications within the arts, culture and heritage sector. Preservation to Podcasting will take place at The British Library, London. The day will be suitable for those who are interested in finding out how Podcasts, blogs and SMS text messaging can you help you reach and communicate with current as well as potential visitors and also those who want to explore the implications that new technologies present for the sector as a whole.

Antenna Audio’s Rob McGlynn, Technical Services Manager and Cathy Fitzgerald, freelance Creative Manager, will hold a seminar session on Podcasting at the conference which will cover the basics of making a podcast, including xml and RSS demystified. Plus advice on how to build an audio strategy and brand, and creating quality content to entice and inform current and future visitors.

Key learning points that will be covered include:

A successful audio strategy can reach new audiences and consolidate the relationship with existing visitors Podcasts can be an effective part of both a marketing and interpretative program Quality content is the key to building a podcast audience. Charlotte Sexton, Head of New Media at the National Gallery will also join a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.

Presenter biographies

Rob McGlynn is part of the New Product Development team at Antenna Audio, the UK’s leading creator of audio tours for museums and galleries. As Technical Analyst, Rob is responsible for researching and developing interpretation solutions using emerging technologies. Recent projects include RFID triggering, development of Antenna’s screen based device called the XP Vision, investigating the use of GPS in the cultural market and development of Antenna’s content assembly environment. Before joining Antenna Audio, Rob worked for Pink Ink as a Solutions Architect and at IBM as a Network Engineer.

Cathy FitzGerald produces The National Gallery Podcast on behalf of Antenna Audio, the UK’s leading creator of audio tours for museums and galleries. Launched in November 2006, the show is comprised of a high-quality blend of interviews, behind the scenes features and exhibition news, and achieved more than 10,000 downloads in its first month on iTunes. Before joining Antenna Audio, Cathy worked as a magazine editor and publisher for John Brown Publishing, one of the UK’s largest contract publishing houses. She edited Virgin Atlantic’s inflight magazine, Odyssey, and was associate publisher of O, the magazine for Orange customers. She has a DPhil in English Literature from the University of Sussex.
