Antenna Audio Tours Provide Unique Insight into SFMOMA Exhibitions

Museum Visitors can Experience Picasso and Marden Exhibition Audio Tours on Antenna Audio X-plorer & iPod

Antenna Audio, the global leader in audio and multimedia interpretation and a division of Discovery Travel Media, is pleased to present audio tours for two special exhibitions at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), Picasso and American Art and Brice Marden: A Retrospective of Paintings and Drawings.  For the first time at SFMOMA, the two audio tours will be available to visitors onsite on either the Antenna Audio X-plorer™ or the fifth generation iPod from Apple.  For a $2 rental fee, visitors can listen to both tours on the device of their preference.

We are committed to providing our visitors with the highest quality interpretive media," said Peter Samis, Associate Curator of Interpretation for SFMOMA.  "By partnering with Antenna Audio to develop content for both the iPod and the X-plorer, as well as for our podcast series, we are able to reach a more diverse and adventurous group of visitors."

Original content produced by Antenna Audio brings added depth to the Picasso exhibit through interviews with seven Picasso and American art experts. Renowned art historian, the late Robert Rosenblum and the exhibition’s curator, Michael FitzGerald are among the voices featured on the tour.  The exhibit examines the fundamental role that Pablo Picasso’s artwork played in the development of American art during the 20th century.  The Picasso exhibition and audio tour run from February 23 – May 28, 2007.

The Brice Marden audio tour features an in-depth conversation between the artist himself and exhibition curator Gary Garrels from the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The tour, originally produced by Acoustiguide Inc. and edited by Antenna Audio, provides commentary on more than a dozen paintings and drawings to offer insight into the motivations behind the artist’s unique style.  The Marden exhibition and audio tour are available at SFMOMA from February 23 – May 13, 2007.

"SFMOMA continues to be a leader in the museum field with its innovative interpretive programming," said Andrew Nugée, CEO of Antenna Audio.  "We are pleased to support their efforts with our award-winning content, and we believe that multi-platform distribution is the way of the future."

For more than 10 years, audio tours produced by Antenna Audio have provided enriching experiences to more than a quarter million SFMOMA visitors.  Content produced by Antenna Audio for SFMOMA has included nearly a dozen special exhibitions as well as the audio tour for the permanent collection, which is currently available to museum guests at a cost of $3.  Antenna Audio is also the producer of the museum’s award-winning podcast series, known as SFMOMA Artcasts, which is available through iTunes and the SFMOMA website at www.sfmoma.org/artcasts.
