Antenna Audio Premieres First Multimedia Tour in the Middle East at The Museum of Islamic Art, Doha

Antenna Audio is proud to announce the opening of its multimedia tour of the permanent collection at the newly opened Museum of Islamic Art, Doha in the State of Qatar. The tour presents visitors a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding into the wonders of Islamic art through audiovisual archival materials, interactive elements, and interviews on a hand-held multimedia device. The content is produced using CAT, an Antenna Audio proprietary web-based publishing tool that enables the museum to update their content independently in the future.

The multimedia tour includes features such as an interactive map and when, fully implemented, will provide interpretation in both English and Arabic for 100 exhibits, from museums’ magnificent collection of art from across the Islamic world.   Nadim Sawahla, the well-known Jordanian born British actor, narrates the English language tour.

Beginning of 2009, a multimedia family tour will premiere. Using interactive games, quizzes and imaginative narration, this special tour will take families on a journey across the Islamic world, helping them explore various objects and encourage discussion. The family tour will be available in English and Arabic.

Sarah Dines, Managing Director of Antenna Audio, said "we are both honoured and delighted to be playing such a strong role at this major event in the international museum world.  The Museum of Islamic Art in Doha will be one of the great museums of the world, and as the world's leading provider of handheld museum interpretation, we are looking forward to showcasing the very best in multimedia and audio interpretation".

In addition to the various multimedia tours created for individual visitors, Antenna Audio will be providing The Museum of Islamic Art, Doha with a Group Tour System, allowing tour groups and docents to experience the museum in a pleasant manner (72 receivers + 2 transmitters).  Also, Antenna Audio will produce a series of four Podcasts, in English and Arabic, to be hosted on the museum’s website.

Adding to the belief that museum should be accessible for people from all walks of life, the museum has also commissioned Antenna Audio to produce an audio tour for visually impaired visitors.
