The power of conversation: Jewish Women and their Salons – The Jewish

This exhibition examines the extraordinary history of 14 women who hosted salons in Europe and the U.S. from the late 18th century to the mid 1940s. These women had great influence on the arts, politics and society, as well as on the successes of such figures as Marcel Proust, Pablo Picasso, Gustav Klimt and Greta Garbo.

Enter the drawing rooms where great thinkers gathered to discuss art, music, literature, film and politics. This show features paintings, sculpture, poetry, photography, musical scores, and political manifestos from the period. A specially created audio guide will enable visitors to hear conversations, memoirs, letters, and performances of the salonières and their guests.
